About Bario and Ba' Kelalan

Bario is located at a remote plateau in the Kelabit Highlands on the island of Borneo, in the state of Sarawak, Malaysia. It is surrounded by densely forested highlands, some rising to as high as 2400m above sea level. The highland includes Sarawak's highest peak, the Mount Murud. Bario is a perfect destination for eco-tourism and for experiencing the hospitality and culture of the Kelabit people. The climate is neither excessively hot nor humid, which adds greatly to the experience, especially for rainforest trekking. The temperature in Bario ranges between 16 to 25 degree Celsius.

Meanwhile, Ba' Kelalan is a group of nine villages in the Bario Highlands of Sarawak, Malaysia. The villagers belong to the Lun Bawang tribe. The name Ba' Kelalan is derived from the Kelalan River and Ba' which means wet in the Lun Bawang language. Ba' Kelalan is located about 910 m above sea level and 4 km from the border with Indonesian, Kalimantan. The villages are Buduk Nur, Long Langai, Long Lemumut, Long Ritan, Long Rusu,Long Rangat, Pa Tawing, Buduk Bui and Buduk Aru.
